Dr. Yang has expertise in treating complicated wounds
such as venous insufficiency, arterial insufficiency, diabetic foot, delayed
healing surgical wounds, complications from radiation treatment, and decubitus
ulcers (bed sores). He observes that “The current trend in wound care is to
focus on how best to mobilize stem cells to facilitate healing.”
His past positions have included Medical Director at St.
Joseph Nursing Home, Frenchville, ME, and Attending Physician, Internal
Medicine and Wound Care, at Northern Maine Medical Center, Fort Kent, ME.
Dr. Yang is also a scientist. He has researched stem cell
mobilization in diabetes patients and presented his work at an international
scientific conference in Hawaii in 2007, where he received the President Award,
second place. Dr. Yang’s current research includes how best to develop a
hospital-wide approach for the prevention of pressure ulcers, including
specialty beds and the improvement of nursing care.
He delivered the key note address at the 2012 Wound Care
Symposium hosted by Bon Secours Charity Health System. He received the honor of
